The City of Pleasanton uses My Government Online (MGO) for plan reviews, permit applications, and construction inspections.  All new users must create a MGO Login-Account to use the MGO system prior to submitting an application or contractor registration.
All new and existing contractors must submit a “contractor registration” within the City of Pleasanton’s MGO portal.

Important: If the building project was submitted prior to 1-26-2023 and a ten-digit number (ex. 2023000XXXX) building project was issued, your subcontractor will need to submit a paper application at City Hall or by email at

The City has contracted with MyGovernmentOnline to provide fully digital, web-based permitting and plan review services. All contractor registrations and all residential and commercial permit applications are now submitted online at MyGovernmentOnline. You must create a free account with MyGovernmentOnline (or login to your existing account) to submit a permit application or request an inspection.
PERMITS & INSPECTIONSStep 1: You must create a free account with MyGovernmentOnline (or login to your existing account).

Step 2: Submit a permit application or schedule an inspection via:  MyGovernmentOnline.

Inspections are conducted between the hours of 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday.  Failure to obtain a permit with the City prior to the commencement of work will result in a penalty permit fee.
COMPLETION OF INSPECTIONResidential and Commercial Building permits are reviewed by Aoka Code Consulting. Inspections are conducted to ensure that a project is in compliance with city ordinances and state regulations. At the completion of each inspection, the Inspector will upload inspection results on MyGovernmentOnline.  The status of all your inspections, permits, and plan reviews can be viewed by accessing your Account -> My Permits -> View -> Requirements.

Please Note: If your inspection requires a correction that item must be corrected and re-inspected for compliance before the project can proceed.  If an inspection has failed, a re-inspection fee will be applied and must be paid prior to scheduling a re-inspection. 
All contractors applying for a permit from the City of Pleasanton will be required to register on MyGovernmentOnline.


  1. Copy of Trade Master License
  2. Copy of a Valid Driver’s License
  3. Certificate of Liability Insurance for:
    • Minimum $300,000 per occurrence (combined for property damage and bodily injury);
    • Minimum $600,000 aggregate (total amount the policy will pay for property damage and bodily injury coverage); and
    • Minimum $300,000 aggregate for products and completed operation
    • Insurance should reflect the City of Pleasanton as the Certificate Holder.
